I am associated with the Rosebud and Standing Rock Tribes of South Dakota. I am looking for help on how to find information on getting a family tree started for multiple family members. I have been trying to use the Oyate Research Center with no prevail. Some of the names I am trying to find are Thomas and Alice Lucy Crow Necklace, Paul George Godfrey Sr./Betty Blue Horse Godfrey and James Didier/Mary Hatten just to name a few. Have you requested a family tree from the Standing Rock Tribe?
That would be a starting point.

I have tried and they said they do not have anough staff to help me with this. I am going to have to make yet another trip out that way to try again. I hope I get some information from them this time when I go. Thanks for the assistance! Virg

We need more than just names in order to help you. How about some vital data on these people, such as birth,and/or death date?
if this is your family tree, I would suggest that you start with your parnets and working backwards list the vital data on them and gpo back as far as you can listing their ancestors.
If you have a library that gives freeaccess to the Internet and ancestry.com, you can search for your ancestors there. The other option is the mormons have Family history centers with computers that allow you to search both the Mormon Archives and and ancestry.com.
here at oyate, we have some censuses fromthe various Reservations you can search, church records,etc.
other than these suggestions,I don't know what else to suggest.

Request a copy of your family tree from SRST under the Freedom of Information Act.
Send the original to the Enrollment Office and a copy to the Superintendent's office.
I can send you the addresses if you like.

SRST Historian ## is 701 854 8512....her name is Wastewin Young and is very professional and helpful...albeit very busy...

I am trying to discover the genealogy of Chaska - Samuel Campbell who married Corabell Fellows and his children by Cora and his 2nd wife.

Samuel Campbelll was a Campbell. His parents listed on th e 1902 Reg. Santee Indian Families were:Antoine Joseph Campbell and Hanajatusnawin(sp.) Paypay.Antoine was the son of Antoine Scott or Scott Antoine Campbell, and Marie menager.
With Cora Bell , they had Flora b.1891,Claud b.1889,and Wilbert b. 1891.
With Julia Frenier,they had Joseph and George
With Lucy RedOwl, they had Gilbert b. 1896 and Owen b. 15 Oct. , 1900

If you are looking for a Baptismal or birth Record, go to the birth s and Deth records Section. the sections,some of them are subivided into sub-sections click on the one that may have the record you seek.then search what is ther.

This is very interesting, believe we are cousins.... Mine; Scott Campbell and Margaret Managre daughter Madeline Campbell married Oliver Racicot/Roscoe. There last born son Samuel Racicot/Roscoe can be found on the McLaughlin Roll along with Madeline. On the Flandreau Census roll also. I am looking for AJ Campbell's will, I had it and now can't find it. Help anyone if you have it. I have the baptism records for 3 of the Roscoe children. Baptized at Saint Felix. tammy

give her his english and or Indian Name,Tribal Affiliation and date of Death
if there is documents for him, it will cost you $!5 for 1 - 15 pages copied and 75 cents/each additional page copy.
You can pay by credit card or check or money order.
